@murderlink
[00:00:19] and welcome to the first episode of Murder Link.
[00:00:23] This is a podcast that we discuss murder stories on
[00:00:27] that people have a personal link to, including us.
[00:00:31] And as this is the first episode of our podcast,
[00:00:34] we are starting the series with our very own Murder Links
[00:00:38] before turning the microphone over to you
[00:00:40] so that you can share your Murder Links too.
[00:00:43] Now, my dad and I wanted to start this podcast
[00:00:46] because my dad has always told the most amazing stories
[00:00:50] from the different people that he has encountered in his life.
[00:00:53] And they have a true crime kind of theme throughout,
[00:00:58] which you're going to hear on this podcast.
[00:01:00] And it got us thinking that other people have interesting stories too.
[00:01:04] Stories that we've never heard, stories that should be shared,
[00:01:06] stories that we would want to listen to ourselves.
[00:01:09] And so that's why we have started Murder Link.
[00:01:12] And I'm so excited that it's our first episode.
[00:01:13] I would like to welcome my dad to the podcast.
[00:01:17] Hi, dad.
[00:01:18] How are you feeling about getting started?
[00:01:20] I am feeling great.
[00:01:22] It's great to be here.
[00:01:24] Been a long time coming.
[00:01:25] I'd like to thank all of our listeners for tuning in.
[00:01:29] And I believe you're going to really like this first story,
[00:01:33] mainly because it's going to tell you a lot of who I am
[00:01:37] and where I came from
[00:01:39] and why I have so many connections, so many links to murder.
[00:01:44] I think that's exactly right, dad.
[00:01:47] Your stories have always fascinated people.
[00:01:49] My dad was the type that threw an amazing Halloween party every year.
[00:01:52] People would be around.
[00:01:53] We'd be telling, or I wouldn't, but he would be telling these stories.
[00:01:56] Some of them I had to wait till I was a bit older to listen to.
[00:02:00] And it just goes back to the theme of what excites us,
[00:02:04] which is just learning about other people and their experiences
[00:02:07] and sharing that with the world.
[00:02:09] And so that's what we're here to do today.
[00:02:11] So dad, do you want to take it away
[00:02:13] and walk us through our first Murder Link?
[00:02:17] Yes, I would.
[00:02:18] So the first one is the murder of Tony Dallster.
[00:02:22] And once again, I believe it's going to explain
[00:02:24] who I am and where I came from very quickly.
[00:02:27] So my life experiences have given me so many connections,
[00:02:33] so many links to murder.
[00:02:35] This one is the murder of Tony Dallster.
[00:02:55] This story starts during my childhood,
[00:02:58] January 1974, Riverdale, Georgia,
[00:03:02] approximately five miles south of the Atlanta airport.
[00:03:05] I'm one of five brothers.
[00:03:07] There was Art, Randy, Eddie, Mitch, and myself, Jody.
[00:03:13] At that time, my maternal grandmother was dying of cancer
[00:03:16] and my mother and father decided to go see her.
[00:03:20] She lived in Macon, Georgia, a little south of it,
[00:03:23] approximately 100 miles.
[00:03:25] While they were gone, my brother Randy
[00:03:28] and my other brother Eddie,
[00:03:30] about 17 and 15 respectively, were in charge.
[00:03:34] Randy was a heroin user.
[00:03:36] He was also a dealer.
[00:03:37] You've got to understand, Clayton County at that time
[00:03:40] was a county of Southern redneck Baptists.
[00:03:46] And here we were, we were these hippie Catholic.
[00:03:50] One of my oldest brothers was a heroin dealer.
[00:03:52] We weren't the most liked people,
[00:03:55] especially by law enforcement.
[00:03:57] Now, understandably, because, you know,
[00:03:59] my brother was a heroin dealer.
[00:04:01] So he decided he was going to throw a party
[00:04:04] instead of really watch us.
[00:04:06] He was going to sell him some heroin, I'm certain,
[00:04:09] because I know him pretty well.
[00:04:11] It was Thursday.
[00:04:12] My mother and father left somewhere around five o'clock.
[00:04:16] So about six, it started turning dark.
[00:04:20] The sun was just setting
[00:04:21] when my brother's friends started showing up.
[00:04:24] You had Randy Doster and Sam Spencer.
[00:04:27] They showed up first in Sam's white car.
[00:04:30] I don't remember what it was.
[00:04:31] It was some clinker, barely ran.
[00:04:33] So did one of the Scots.
[00:04:35] I can't remember which one,
[00:04:37] but the Scots were a huge family.
[00:04:40] I mean, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers,
[00:04:44] all throughout the county.
[00:04:45] They were related to the cars.
[00:04:47] That's another story we're going to talk about later
[00:04:50] in the series.
[00:04:52] Eventually, everyone arrived.
[00:04:54] The party started cranking up.
[00:04:56] The noise, the music, the talking,
[00:04:59] the smell of alcohol and weed.
[00:05:02] Mitch and myself were preoccupied in the kitchen
[00:05:05] when my brother had Randy Doster come distract us
[00:05:10] by playing gin rummy with us.
[00:05:12] And he was making cherry floats with Coca-Cola
[00:05:15] and cherry ice cream, vanilla cherry ice cream.
[00:05:17] It was really fun.
[00:05:19] I mean, I remember as a kid, I was thrilled.
[00:05:21] But later on, we wound down
[00:05:23] and went to the living room
[00:05:24] and me and Mitch fell asleep.
[00:05:27] So I remember being woke up by Eddie.
[00:05:30] It was still dark,
[00:05:32] but it was time to get up and go to school.
[00:05:34] So imagine these two kids.
[00:05:36] Mom and dad aren't there,
[00:05:38] so we're barely dressed, wrinkled clothes,
[00:05:41] probably didn't even brush our teeth.
[00:05:42] You know, little kids, man.
[00:05:44] So we're walking out the front door,
[00:05:47] about to go to the bus stop.
[00:05:50] And as we walk out of the house,
[00:05:51] we're stepping onto the sidewalk from our porch
[00:05:54] to the driveway.
[00:05:55] And Eddie came running to my left,
[00:05:58] brushing up against us.
[00:05:59] I wouldn't say knock us over,
[00:06:01] but you get the idea, running to the car.
[00:06:03] As we approached the car,
[00:06:05] it was still dark.
[00:06:07] Eddie opened the door and the light came on
[00:06:09] and the back door, passenger side.
[00:06:13] And Randy Doster,
[00:06:14] who had fallen asleep in the car
[00:06:16] and had his hands behind his back,
[00:06:19] fell out, leaned against the car door.
[00:06:22] When Eddie opened it,
[00:06:23] he fell out with his eyes rolling,
[00:06:26] foam coming out of his mouth.
[00:06:28] We stood there for just a second.
[00:06:30] Eddie's like, oh shit,
[00:06:31] and went running into the house,
[00:06:33] leaving Mitch and myself standing there.
[00:06:35] Now, once again,
[00:06:36] I'm about nine and Mitch was about 11.
[00:06:39] So we're watching this lifeless body.
[00:06:41] It seemed like forever.
[00:06:42] It was just a moment or two.
[00:06:44] And immediately it was like the whole party
[00:06:46] came running out of the house.
[00:06:48] Everybody was grabbing Randy Doster.
[00:06:50] It's like four or five people
[00:06:51] carrying him at once into the house.
[00:06:53] We followed in.
[00:06:55] There's a lot of commotion for a moment.
[00:06:57] My brother Randy started hollering.
[00:06:59] He overdosed.
[00:07:00] He overdosed.
[00:07:01] And y'all know we shot him up last night
[00:07:03] with salt water.
[00:07:04] What had happened,
[00:07:05] Randy Doster had overdosed earlier
[00:07:08] and they gave him salt water.
[00:07:10] What that does,
[00:07:11] you inject that into the bloodstream
[00:07:14] and it dilutes the blood.
[00:07:16] And that made him wake up.
[00:07:20] So as he got up and walked around,
[00:07:22] everybody's like, good, he's okay.
[00:07:23] He's okay.
[00:07:24] And they all went back to doing their heroin.
[00:07:27] He went outside and laid down in the car
[00:07:29] and fell asleep,
[00:07:30] which allowed the opioids
[00:07:32] to overtake his heart
[00:07:33] and kill him.
[00:07:35] That's my understanding of what happened.
[00:07:38] Well, once they realized
[00:07:39] they needed to get rid of this body,
[00:07:41] it was decided they would draw straws,
[00:07:44] dump his body.
[00:07:45] Sam Spencer won what I call the lottery,
[00:07:48] but he decided instead of dumping him
[00:07:50] that he would take him to the hospital
[00:07:52] and drop the body off,
[00:07:53] which he did.
[00:07:55] And he was arrested for internal possession,
[00:07:57] which is ridiculous.
[00:07:58] There's no such thing.
[00:08:00] They dropped the charges late.
[00:08:01] We sat at the bus stop.
[00:08:04] As the sun was rising,
[00:08:06] we could see Sam leaving.
[00:08:07] We seen him drive off.
[00:08:09] It was sad to see him go up the hill
[00:08:11] and disappear.
[00:08:12] Several days went by.
[00:08:14] Rumors started spreading
[00:08:16] that Randy McHugh
[00:08:17] had killed Randy Doster.
[00:08:19] People were saying that he
[00:08:21] had put rat poison in his dope,
[00:08:24] which rat poison is a cutting agent for dope.
[00:08:27] I'm not exactly sure about it.
[00:08:28] They just use it to cut it with.
[00:08:30] And then there was also the other story
[00:08:33] that my brother had given him
[00:08:35] what's known as a hot shot.
[00:08:37] A hot shot is when you purposefully
[00:08:39] give someone extremely high quality drugs,
[00:08:43] knowing that it will kill them
[00:08:44] because heroin is usually only about 10%.
[00:08:47] It's diluted down to 10%.
[00:08:50] So, Dad, I just want to clarify
[00:08:52] for anyone that's listening
[00:08:53] that Randy McHugh is your brother.
[00:08:56] So when people are spreading these rumors,
[00:08:58] they're talking about the fact
[00:09:00] that your brother, Randy McHugh,
[00:09:02] was rumored to have killed Randy Doster.
[00:09:05] And I'm just clarifying that
[00:09:06] because you said Randy
[00:09:06] was your brother earlier,
[00:09:07] but I don't know if people know your last name.
[00:09:09] And I want to make sure
[00:09:10] that people understand
[00:09:11] exactly what we're saying.
[00:09:13] Exactly.
[00:09:13] There was Randy Doster
[00:09:14] and Randy McHugh.
[00:09:16] My understanding is that
[00:09:18] Randy Doster had overdosed on opioids,
[00:09:21] but his brother, Tony,
[00:09:23] didn't believe this.
[00:09:24] He immediately began threatening me
[00:09:26] and my brother, Mitch.
[00:09:28] He was literally calling our house
[00:09:31] and saying,
[00:09:32] I'm going to kill your little brothers
[00:09:34] and hanging up.
[00:09:35] And he was going around telling everybody.
[00:09:37] All of his friends at North Clayton Senior High
[00:09:39] knew he was doing this and saying this.
[00:09:42] Some were even helping him.
[00:09:43] They would ride by our house,
[00:09:44] honking their horns broad daylight
[00:09:46] and at nighttime,
[00:09:48] throwing bottles in our driveway,
[00:09:50] just hollering disgusting things.
[00:09:53] Eventually,
[00:09:55] not long afterwards,
[00:09:57] we went to stay at my grandfather's
[00:10:00] for my grandmother's funeral.
[00:10:02] While we were gone,
[00:10:03] Tony broke into our house
[00:10:05] and destroyed whatever he did not steal.
[00:10:07] When he left,
[00:10:08] he left a note scratched on the wall,
[00:10:10] the foyer when you walk in.
[00:10:12] It stated,
[00:10:13] thanks for not coming back.
[00:10:15] T.D.
[00:10:16] It had his initials in it.
[00:10:18] So my mom called the police
[00:10:20] to let them know
[00:10:21] because she wanted to file insurance on it.
[00:10:24] And the police, of course,
[00:10:26] with my brother's history,
[00:10:28] they made it clear
[00:10:29] they could care less.
[00:10:31] You couldn't blame them
[00:10:32] for having that sort of attitude.
[00:10:34] About a year and a half later,
[00:10:35] somewhere in 1975,
[00:10:37] my grandfather had remarried.
[00:10:39] He invited Mitch and myself
[00:10:41] to stay with him for a week
[00:10:42] down in Montrose, Georgia
[00:10:43] in the country.
[00:10:44] I had a great time.
[00:10:45] I remember it well.
[00:10:47] Being that southern country,
[00:10:49] it was just something different
[00:10:50] than the suburban neighborhoods
[00:10:52] we were used to.
[00:10:53] When we returned,
[00:10:54] it was about the 5th or 6th of July,
[00:10:57] 1975.
[00:10:59] I was 10 years old.
[00:11:00] I can't remember
[00:11:02] who was the first to tell me
[00:11:03] that Tony Doster had been murdered.
[00:11:05] But I do remember reading
[00:11:07] the story in the newspaper.
[00:11:08] It wasn't a big story,
[00:11:10] just a small clipping
[00:11:11] how he had been shot
[00:11:13] driving his vehicle
[00:11:14] in front of North Clayton Senior High
[00:11:17] on the 4th of July.
[00:11:19] They had described it
[00:11:21] as a gangland-style killing.
[00:11:22] It took several weeks,
[00:11:24] but after several anonymous tips,
[00:11:26] on August 30th,
[00:11:29] law enforcement officers
[00:11:30] arrested three people.
[00:11:32] That would be David Gillespie,
[00:11:33] Tony Sanchez,
[00:11:35] and David Stovall.
[00:11:37] All three were
[00:11:38] North Clayton Senior High
[00:11:40] seniors.
[00:11:41] After investigations,
[00:11:43] the police pieced together
[00:11:44] that Gillespie and Sanchez
[00:11:45] were at Karen Smith's house
[00:11:47] mowing the lawn.
[00:11:49] I'd like to point out
[00:11:50] that we knew
[00:11:51] David Gillespie.
[00:11:52] Not real good,
[00:11:53] but he had been
[00:11:54] to our house a few times.
[00:11:55] We did not know
[00:11:56] the other two people.
[00:11:58] They were at
[00:11:59] Karen Smith's house
[00:11:59] mowing lawn.
[00:12:00] Karen Smith
[00:12:01] had been Randy Doster's
[00:12:03] girlfriend before he died.
[00:12:05] Now she was dating
[00:12:06] David Gillespie.
[00:12:08] Tony called
[00:12:09] and wanted to ask her
[00:12:12] about some rumors
[00:12:14] he had heard
[00:12:14] that David Gillespie
[00:12:17] had turned Tony in
[00:12:19] for some crime
[00:12:21] and the police
[00:12:22] raided his home
[00:12:24] as a result of that.
[00:12:25] Karen agreed to
[00:12:27] ride around and talk with him
[00:12:28] because she wanted to
[00:12:28] explain to him
[00:12:29] that none of that was true.
[00:12:30] David wouldn't do that to him.
[00:12:33] I don't know
[00:12:34] if it was really true or not.
[00:12:35] So she met him.
[00:12:37] I think it was
[00:12:37] the next day.
[00:12:40] So they ended up
[00:12:41] at Lake Peachtree
[00:12:41] in Peachtree City
[00:12:42] where Karen alleges
[00:12:43] that Tony tried to rape her.
[00:12:45] When she returned
[00:12:46] and told David Gillespie
[00:12:48] about the incident,
[00:12:50] he became angry
[00:12:51] and resolved
[00:12:52] to beat Tony up.
[00:12:53] David acquired a gun
[00:12:55] to protect himself
[00:12:56] because he believed
[00:12:57] that Tony carried a gun.
[00:12:59] Gillespie was a brown belt
[00:13:01] in karate.
[00:13:02] He was an expert,
[00:13:03] but he was only
[00:13:04] five foot six.
[00:13:06] Tony was six foot five.
[00:13:09] Gillespie and Sanchez
[00:13:10] went hunting for Tony.
[00:13:12] For two days,
[00:13:13] they rode around
[00:13:14] the North Clayton
[00:13:15] Senior High area
[00:13:16] up and down
[00:13:17] Riverdale Road.
[00:13:18] Anywhere they thought
[00:13:19] Tony would be,
[00:13:20] they looked for him.
[00:13:22] So on the afternoon
[00:13:23] of Fourth of July,
[00:13:24] they came with the idea
[00:13:25] for Gillespie
[00:13:27] to get Karen
[00:13:28] to call Tony
[00:13:30] and have her
[00:13:31] make arrangements
[00:13:32] to meet her
[00:13:33] at the tennis courts
[00:13:34] at North Clayton Senior High.
[00:13:36] Karen made that call.
[00:13:38] So on July 4th,
[00:13:41] 1975
[00:13:42] at 7.30 p.m.
[00:13:44] in the evening,
[00:13:45] three men waited
[00:13:47] approximately two blocks away
[00:13:49] in Sanchez Station Wagon.
[00:13:51] Gillespie, Sanchez,
[00:13:53] and Stovall spotted
[00:13:54] Tony's car.
[00:13:56] They allege
[00:13:56] as they passed
[00:13:57] Tony
[00:13:58] in his car,
[00:13:59] he yelled out,
[00:14:00] you little bastards,
[00:14:01] I told her not to say anything,
[00:14:02] I'm going to blow
[00:14:03] your brains out.
[00:14:04] They claimed
[00:14:05] that as they passed
[00:14:06] Tony,
[00:14:07] they stopped,
[00:14:08] threw their car
[00:14:09] in reverse
[00:14:09] and hit his car
[00:14:10] and they started firing
[00:14:12] into his car
[00:14:12] because they thought
[00:14:13] he was pointing
[00:14:14] a gun at them.
[00:14:16] David shot
[00:14:17] Tony
[00:14:17] in the head
[00:14:18] twice
[00:14:19] and once
[00:14:21] in the shoulder.
[00:14:21] No gun
[00:14:23] was found
[00:14:23] in Doster's car.
[00:14:25] Later it was learned,
[00:14:27] Gillespie and Sanchez
[00:14:28] went to the Doster house
[00:14:29] anyway,
[00:14:29] seeking information.
[00:14:31] They were trying
[00:14:32] to find out
[00:14:32] anything
[00:14:33] that the investigators
[00:14:34] may have told
[00:14:35] the Doster family
[00:14:36] but it didn't matter.
[00:14:38] Like we said earlier,
[00:14:39] August 30th,
[00:14:40] they were arrested
[00:14:41] anyway.
[00:14:42] All three were convicted,
[00:14:44] sentenced to life
[00:14:45] and Gillespie
[00:14:46] tried to escape
[00:14:47] with nine other prisoners
[00:14:48] after attacking
[00:14:50] a guard.
[00:14:50] They didn't even
[00:14:51] make it to the
[00:14:52] outside door
[00:14:53] of the Clayton County
[00:14:54] jail.
[00:14:55] It was amazing
[00:14:56] that they thought
[00:14:57] they could escape.
[00:14:58] So imagine
[00:14:59] I was 10 years old
[00:15:01] when all of this
[00:15:02] occurred.
[00:15:03] A man
[00:15:04] so enraged
[00:15:06] that he wanted
[00:15:06] to kill
[00:15:07] myself
[00:15:08] and my brother
[00:15:09] Mitch
[00:15:09] and I'm reading
[00:15:11] about this
[00:15:12] gangland style
[00:15:13] murder
[00:15:14] of him.
[00:15:15] You can't believe
[00:15:16] what was going
[00:15:17] through my head
[00:15:17] at the time.
[00:15:18] It was like a
[00:15:19] sequence of events.
[00:15:21] They seem to have
[00:15:22] started with the
[00:15:23] party thrown
[00:15:24] while my parents
[00:15:25] were out of town
[00:15:26] by my brother
[00:15:27] Randy.
[00:15:28] It all felt like
[00:15:29] and still feels
[00:15:30] like a movie.
[00:15:31] I mean,
[00:15:32] if Randy Doster
[00:15:33] didn't die
[00:15:35] or hadn't
[00:15:36] have died,
[00:15:36] would Karen
[00:15:38] have started
[00:15:39] dating David
[00:15:40] Gillespie?
[00:15:41] Because that's
[00:15:42] what got Tony
[00:15:43] murdered.
[00:15:44] So would Tony
[00:15:46] have been
[00:15:46] murdered?
[00:15:47] For years,
[00:15:49] I was reminded
[00:15:50] of what occurred
[00:15:51] at my house
[00:15:52] in Riverdale
[00:15:53] as a child.
[00:15:54] Of the division
[00:15:55] it created
[00:15:56] in the 70s
[00:15:57] amongst the
[00:15:58] people of
[00:15:59] Riverdale
[00:16:00] and the people
[00:16:01] of North Clayton.
[00:16:02] Those of North Clayton
[00:16:04] tend to believe
[00:16:05] that Randy
[00:16:06] Doster
[00:16:06] was murdered
[00:16:08] by my brother
[00:16:09] Randy.
[00:16:10] And those
[00:16:11] from Riverdale
[00:16:11] tend to believe
[00:16:12] it was an overdose.
[00:16:15] In 1977,
[00:16:16] all five of us
[00:16:17] brothers attended
[00:16:18] a party
[00:16:18] at Mason DeVille
[00:16:20] Apartments,
[00:16:21] the clubhouse,
[00:16:22] which was located
[00:16:23] one block
[00:16:24] from the Doster
[00:16:25] residence.
[00:16:26] So,
[00:16:27] of course,
[00:16:27] it didn't take
[00:16:28] a genius to know
[00:16:29] this was going
[00:16:29] to end badly.
[00:16:30] A bunch of
[00:16:31] the Doster
[00:16:32] family friends
[00:16:34] attacked us
[00:16:35] destroying our car.
[00:16:36] And in the
[00:16:37] melee that occurred,
[00:16:38] and I'm talking
[00:16:39] there had to be
[00:16:40] 50 people
[00:16:41] in this brawl.
[00:16:43] In the melee
[00:16:43] that occurred,
[00:16:44] one man was
[00:16:45] stabbed in the chest.
[00:16:46] Detective Lansky
[00:16:47] came to our house
[00:16:49] numerous times
[00:16:50] trying to find
[00:16:51] my brother Randy,
[00:16:52] wanting to try
[00:16:53] to pin it on him,
[00:16:55] which he probably
[00:16:55] did it.
[00:16:56] But Randy
[00:16:57] had disappeared
[00:16:58] for a while.
[00:16:59] And the victim,
[00:17:00] they couldn't
[00:17:01] remember anything,
[00:17:02] supposedly.
[00:17:03] They probably
[00:17:04] just told him
[00:17:05] that and didn't
[00:17:06] want to say
[00:17:06] Randy McHugh
[00:17:07] did it.
[00:17:08] I mean,
[00:17:08] seriously,
[00:17:09] it was like that.
[00:17:10] But I've got
[00:17:11] to say,
[00:17:12] it was truly
[00:17:13] tragic
[00:17:13] to what happened
[00:17:15] to the Doster
[00:17:16] family.
[00:17:17] You had
[00:17:18] three of the
[00:17:19] four brothers
[00:17:20] dead by the
[00:17:21] age of 24.
[00:17:23] I mean,
[00:17:24] Tony was
[00:17:24] dead by murder
[00:17:26] at the age
[00:17:27] of 24.
[00:17:28] Randy had
[00:17:29] overdosed
[00:17:30] at 21.
[00:17:31] And Larry,
[00:17:32] the youngest,
[00:17:33] had died
[00:17:33] at the age
[00:17:34] of 17
[00:17:34] of stomach
[00:17:36] cancer.
[00:17:37] Stevie
[00:17:38] eventually
[00:17:38] died
[00:17:38] at the
[00:17:39] age
[00:17:39] of 45.
[00:17:40] But you
[00:17:41] can't
[00:17:41] imagine
[00:17:41] what
[00:17:42] the
[00:17:42] family,
[00:17:43] what the
[00:17:43] mother and
[00:17:43] father,
[00:17:44] what their
[00:17:45] lives must
[00:17:45] have been
[00:17:46] like after
[00:17:46] that.
[00:17:47] It must
[00:17:48] have been
[00:17:48] really
[00:17:48] horrible.
[00:17:49] So my
[00:17:51] own brother
[00:17:51] Randy,
[00:17:52] he died
[00:17:53] in 2022.
[00:17:55] And I
[00:17:56] always wonder,
[00:17:57] did he
[00:17:58] in fact kill
[00:17:59] Randy Doster?
[00:18:01] Wow,
[00:18:01] Dad,
[00:18:02] what a story.
[00:18:03] Thank you
[00:18:04] so much for
[00:18:04] sharing that.
[00:18:05] And,
[00:18:06] you know,
[00:18:06] I think
[00:18:06] you're right.
[00:18:07] I mean,
[00:18:07] listeners won't
[00:18:08] know,
[00:18:08] but I do
[00:18:09] because I'm
[00:18:09] your daughter.
[00:18:11] The stories
[00:18:11] that you've
[00:18:12] told me of
[00:18:12] Uncle Randy
[00:18:13] are just
[00:18:14] insane.
[00:18:15] Maybe one
[00:18:15] day we
[00:18:16] can have an
[00:18:16] episode
[00:18:16] dedicated to
[00:18:17] just that,
[00:18:18] even though
[00:18:18] it's not
[00:18:19] murder,
[00:18:19] because those
[00:18:19] are quite
[00:18:20] entertaining.
[00:18:21] But I
[00:18:21] know that
[00:18:23] you guys
[00:18:24] weren't close
[00:18:24] as you
[00:18:25] grew up
[00:18:26] and that
[00:18:26] you're aware
[00:18:27] of all the
[00:18:27] things that
[00:18:28] he's capable
[00:18:28] of.
[00:18:29] And I
[00:18:29] can't imagine
[00:18:30] what it's
[00:18:31] like wondering
[00:18:31] if this is
[00:18:32] something that
[00:18:33] your brother
[00:18:33] did.
[00:18:34] And I
[00:18:34] have to
[00:18:35] say,
[00:18:35] when I
[00:18:35] was researching
[00:18:36] the story,
[00:18:36] I was looking
[00:18:37] on Facebook
[00:18:38] because these
[00:18:39] locations have
[00:18:40] groups that
[00:18:41] are dedicated
[00:18:41] to people or
[00:18:42] that have
[00:18:43] mentions of
[00:18:43] people that
[00:18:44] have passed.
[00:18:44] And I was
[00:18:45] looking for
[00:18:45] information on
[00:18:46] the Doster
[00:18:47] brothers.
[00:18:48] And I
[00:18:49] can't remember,
[00:18:49] it must have
[00:18:50] been Randy
[00:18:50] Doster.
[00:18:51] There's a
[00:18:51] picture of
[00:18:51] him and
[00:18:52] we'll put
[00:18:52] it on our
[00:18:53] socials.
[00:18:53] You'll be
[00:18:54] able to find
[00:18:54] it for anyone
[00:18:54] that's
[00:18:55] listening.
[00:18:55] But in
[00:18:56] the comments,
[00:18:57] it says,
[00:18:59] oh, it was
[00:18:59] so sad he
[00:19:00] overdosed.
[00:19:01] And then
[00:19:01] someone else,
[00:19:02] for example,
[00:19:02] I'm not quoting,
[00:19:03] but I'm not
[00:19:04] looking at it at
[00:19:04] the moment,
[00:19:05] but they say
[00:19:05] something like,
[00:19:06] I heard he
[00:19:07] was murdered.
[00:19:07] And so this
[00:19:09] overdose slash
[00:19:10] murder,
[00:19:11] intentional kill
[00:19:12] story is still
[00:19:13] going on,
[00:19:15] what, 50
[00:19:16] years later?
[00:19:17] Yes.
[00:19:18] And the last
[00:19:18] time I heard
[00:19:19] anything from
[00:19:20] anybody was,
[00:19:21] the man's name
[00:19:21] was Mark
[00:19:22] Satterwhite.
[00:19:23] I was in the
[00:19:24] 10th grade,
[00:19:25] 1980,
[00:19:27] and this young
[00:19:28] man came up to
[00:19:29] me and went,
[00:19:29] you're Randy
[00:19:30] McHugh's brother.
[00:19:31] He killed
[00:19:32] Randy Doster.
[00:19:33] And I was
[00:19:33] like, yeah,
[00:19:35] maybe, maybe
[00:19:36] not.
[00:19:36] But that was
[00:19:38] the last time
[00:19:39] someone ever
[00:19:39] approached me in
[00:19:40] that manner.
[00:19:42] Well, I mean,
[00:19:43] I'm just saying
[00:19:43] they're still
[00:19:43] talking about it.
[00:19:44] I didn't see
[00:19:45] Randy McHugh
[00:19:45] mentioned
[00:19:46] but also
[00:19:47] like, I'm
[00:19:48] sure this guy
[00:19:48] that said
[00:19:49] this to you
[00:19:49] was young,
[00:19:50] but what a
[00:19:51] thing to say
[00:19:51] to someone
[00:19:52] like in an
[00:19:53] excited tone.
[00:19:54] How strange.
[00:19:55] I'd never met
[00:19:56] him before.
[00:19:56] Me and him
[00:19:57] became real
[00:19:57] good friends.
[00:19:58] I like Mark.
[00:19:58] He was a
[00:19:59] very good
[00:19:59] guy.
[00:20:00] All right.
[00:20:01] Well, hi,
[00:20:01] Mark, if
[00:20:02] you're listening.
[00:20:03] Ironically,
[00:20:04] that was at
[00:20:04] North Clayton
[00:20:05] Senior High,
[00:20:06] which I ended
[00:20:07] up attending
[00:20:08] later.
[00:20:09] Got it.
[00:20:09] Okay.
[00:20:10] Wow.
[00:20:11] What a story.
[00:20:11] Thank you so
[00:20:12] much.
[00:20:13] I feel like
[00:20:14] it's an
[00:20:15] amazing tale on
[00:20:16] its own because
[00:20:16] it talks about
[00:20:17] the Doster
[00:20:17] family, but
[00:20:18] it also talks
[00:20:18] about your
[00:20:19] family.
[00:20:20] And as you
[00:20:20] said, it sets
[00:20:21] the scene for
[00:20:22] the type of
[00:20:24] lifestyle that
[00:20:25] you've had
[00:20:26] growing up,
[00:20:27] just based on
[00:20:27] where you were
[00:20:28] born and the
[00:20:29] family that
[00:20:29] you had,
[00:20:29] and how you
[00:20:30] can have
[00:20:31] different links
[00:20:32] to murder
[00:20:33] through all the
[00:20:34] characters that
[00:20:34] you've known
[00:20:35] throughout your
[00:20:36] life.
[00:20:36] And so I'm
[00:20:37] excited to
[00:20:38] share some of
[00:20:38] those stories or
[00:20:39] to listen to
[00:20:40] you share some
[00:20:40] of those stories
[00:20:41] in our
[00:20:42] upcoming episodes.
[00:20:43] But we want
[00:20:44] to say that
[00:20:45] MurderLink is
[00:20:46] not just
[00:20:47] about us.
[00:20:48] And we want
[00:20:49] to hear from
[00:20:49] those that are
[00:20:50] listening too.
[00:20:51] So if you
[00:20:52] have your own
[00:20:53] MurderLink or
[00:20:54] if you know
[00:20:55] someone that
[00:20:56] does, please
[00:20:57] email in and
[00:20:58] tell us about
[00:20:58] your story.
[00:20:59] You can email
[00:21:00] hello at
[00:21:01] murderlink.com.
[00:21:03] We would love
[00:21:04] to hear from you
[00:21:04] because our
[00:21:05] plan is to
[00:21:06] share all
[00:21:07] that we can,
[00:21:08] but eventually
[00:21:09] share your
[00:21:13] and we don't
[00:21:13] want this
[00:21:14] podcast to
[00:21:14] end.
[00:21:15] So please
[00:21:16] let us know
[00:21:16] your MurderLinks.
[00:21:18] And Dad,
[00:21:19] thank you so
[00:21:19] much for
[00:21:20] telling that
[00:21:21] story on our
[00:21:21] first episode.
[00:21:22] Have you got
[00:21:23] anything that
[00:21:23] you want to
[00:21:23] say before
[00:21:24] we close
[00:21:24] out?
[00:21:25] Thank you
[00:21:25] for taking
[00:21:26] the time
[00:21:27] out and
[00:21:27] us doing
[00:21:28] this.
[00:21:28] And thanks
[00:21:29] to all our
[00:21:29] listeners.
[00:21:30] And hopefully
[00:21:31] you'll be
[00:21:31] hearing the
[00:21:31] next story
[00:21:32] next week.
[00:21:33] Perfect.
[00:21:33] So if you're
[00:21:34] listening,
[00:21:34] please like
[00:21:35] and subscribe.
[00:21:36] Tune in next
[00:21:37] week when you
[00:21:37] will hear
[00:21:38] episode two of
[00:21:39] MurderLink.
[00:21:40] Thank you so
[00:21:40] much for
[00:21:41] listening.
[00:21:42] And be
[00:21:43] sure to
[00:21:43] share your
[00:21:43] MurderLink
[00:21:44] with us if
[00:21:44] you've got
[00:21:45] one.
[00:21:45] Bye.
[00:21:46] Bye.
